Waltham Forest came away from their former home at Cricklefield without any points, despite a promising performance.

Forest were out of the blocks quickly as Pelummy Martin hit the post from a few yards out following a goal-mouth scramble.

But Ilford went straight up the other end and took advantage of some lax marking to head in from a free-kick.

Martin made amends for his earlier miss, finishing powerfully from just inside the area.

Forest enjoyed large periods of attacking dominance in the second half, but with ten minutes to go Ilford were awarded an extremely soft penalty. Indeed, the player adjudged to have been fouled admitted to the crowd that he did not know what the penalty was given for.

The penalty was converted, and a late long-distance free kick made sure of the points for Ilford.
