A youthful Waltham Forest side produced an excellent display to make it two wins from two against Basildon United in the league this season.

The opening half-hour was a cagey affair, with neither side really able to break through midfield.

The deadlock was broken on 35 minutes, when Josh Banton was at the back post to head in Azhad Masoud’s perfect free-kick.

Forest came out for the second half on the front foot, and were soon rewarded when Nicki Dembele curled in from just outside the box.

Dom Shephard had a good chance to put the game beyond doubt, spurning a three-on-one opportunity.

The home side began to get back into the game, and were rewarded when Jamie Brown tapped in at the back post.

But Forest stood firm, and secured a first away win since the 1st of November.
