Waltham Forest got their pre-season off to a solid start, holding Isthmian Division 1 North side Aveley to a goalless draw.

Aveley played the match with two sets of 11 players, containing a strong mixture of first teamers and trialists.

Aside from hitting the foot of the post from a free kick, and having a one-on-one well saved, Aveley didn’t cause Forest too much trouble at the back.

Nana Boayke-Yiadom proved troublesome for the Aveley defence all afternoon, and went closest for Forest, but Lemar Reynolds in the Aveley goal was equal to everything thrown at him.

Forest now host Wembley at Wadham Lodge on Saturday 15th July.
