Waltham Forest enjoyed a dominant win against Spartan League side, who, like Forest were completely changed from when the two sides met last season.

The opening few minutes were close enough, but Forest were ahead on five minutes, Germaine Dua running onto a perfect through ball and having the composure to hold off his defender and stroke the ball home.

Despite Forest’s dominance, they were pegged back soon after, as a Stotfold forward pounced on a poor clearance from Forest’s keeper and curled the ball home.

But parity didn’t last long as Dua got his second of the night in a carbon-copy of his first.

Stotfold did have an effort clip the outside of the post moments before half time, but it was the last real chance they had in the match.

In the second half Forest controlled the game, and two goals from Mohammed Sagaf, including a long-range screamer put the game out of Stotfold’s reach.

A Forest sub added a fifth in a game which will certainly boost confidence going into Saturday’s first league match against Hullbridge Sports.
