Waltham Forest returned from Hertfordshire empty handed as Sawbridgeworth made the most of their efforts in a game of few chances.

The game started evenly, but it was the home side who took advantage of some slack defending as Lewis Francis was able to cross for the unmarked Joe Wright who slid the ball in from just a few yards.

Forest gradually got a foothold in the game, and were almost level just before half time. Abiola Tanimowo created enough space on the right-hand side of the box to unleash a firecracker of a shot which cannoned off the underside of the bar and away to safety.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first. Sawbo made the most of some loose defending to double their advantage through Aaron Thomas who finished well from the right-hand side.

Forest hit the woodwork again through Tanimowo in the last few minutes, but Sawbo controlled the game for a fairly straight-forward victory.
