Forest lumbered to a 2-2 draw against Southend Manor on a balmy afternoon at Wadham Lodge.
Last week it was Forest who benefited from an injury time leveller, but they were put to the sword in similar fashion by Manor this time around.
Forest got off to the worst possible start. An attempted clearance around half-way resulted in a Manor corner, where Lee Delf was able to head home unchallenged.
Ryan Maxwell’s men gradually got into the game, with Chris Lecointe and Tony Da Silva both forcing Klinton Makayabo into action.
At the other end, Manor had a few half-chances, but were being caught out by Forest’s high line.
Seven minutes into the second half Forest were level. Gus Douglas was pushed over in the box, and the referee pointed to the spot despite very few appeals from Forest. Shamori Barnwell rolled home coolly from the spot.
Manor were being limited to long-range efforts, though they did hit the post admit a goal-mouth scramble following a corner. At the other end, Forest struggled with the rock solid pitch.
But Forest’s persistence paid off with 10 minutes to go, as Da Silva latched onto Harry Morgan’s ball over the top to poke the ball past the on-rushing keeper.
However, as the clock ticked over into injury time, Tyler Fowles made the most of a poor clearance to secure a point.
With other results going their way, Forest will be very disapointed to have not taken all three points, making next Saturday’s clash with Stansted all the more important.
